THE Invitation

Jason Lewis is being invited to make a paid, featured performance appearance at The Scorpio Ball, an intimate theatrical dinner created for the private release of Laura Doughty’s memoir, Raised by Fire—and to appear in the cinematic short film that will be created from the evening.

His role is being conceived simultaneously for the live room and for the camera. He first appears as the unrevealed presence who meets Laura following the opening production and accompanies her down the staircase and into the room. Later, he enters the final phoenix sequence at its emotional climax, joining Laura for a choreographed waltz sequence lasting approximately one minute and culminating in a controlled dip and the final twirl that releases her into the closing declaration.

This is not a conventional celebrity appearance, red-carpet walk-through, event-hosting role, or incidental cameo. It is a defined performance role woven into the narrative architecture of both the evening and the film.

Jason’s presence matters because the final sequence requires more than a dance partner. It requires someone who can hold a cinematic frame without overtaking it—someone whose elegance, restraint, warmth, and unmistakable screen presence can give the moment scale while allowing Laura’s story to remain at its center.

His participation would shape three things at once: the emotional charge of the room, the enduring visual record of the night, and the cinematic language of what Raised by Fire becomes next.

Yet the role does not ask him to become the face of the project, carry its narrative, or serve as its central character. He is being invited into a fully authored world—one in which his presence deepens the image and enlarges the moment without making the story his to hold.

THE First
 Entrance

The evening begins with an approximately twelve-minute theatrical production introducing the visual and emotional language of Raised by Fire.

During that sequence, Jason remains out of sight with a clear view of the production so that his first appearance is preserved.

Following Laura’s costume change, Jason meets her at the top of the staircase and accompanies her into the ballroom and to the evening’s host table, where his guest or representative and Laura’s invited guests will join them for dinner.

THE
Final Sequence

Following dinner, cake, and Laura’s remarks, the closing production begins with an approximately two-minute instrumental sequence in which the dancers embody the rise of the phoenix.

As the instrumental sequence concludes, I Rise begins. At the emotional climax of the song, Jason enters at the end of the lyrics:

I was raised by fire…
but I belong to the sun.

The chorus begins.

Jason joins Laura in a short choreographed sequence culminating in a controlled dip. Laura then spins away as she delivers the final words:

I was raised by fire…
but my Phoenix era…
has begun.

The sequence is intended to be elegant, emotionally precise, and unmistakably cinematic.

THE
Role on Film

Although the evening itself is private, the cinematic work created from it is intended to carry the world of Raised by Fire far beyond the room. The live performance will be captured as part of a cinematic short created from The Scorpio Ball and the release of Raised by Fire.

A separate staged filming session will also be scheduled before the event to capture essential portraits, close-ups, movement, and composed images of Laura and Jason. This ensures that the finished film is not dependent solely upon live-event coverage.

The footage is intended for the principal Raised by Fire cinematic short and its official trailers, press materials, website, social media, and archival promotion.

The final scope of use, term, credit, publicity permissions, and approval provisions will be mutually established in the appearance agreement.

FOUR ARRIVALS, ONE EVENING

On this November evening, four long arcs of one life arrive together—in the same room, before the people who make up that life—to honor what has been completed and announce what is ahead.

The Experience

An evening built like a production, not a program.

From the first arrival through the final transformation of the room, every element is being composed as part of one continuous production.

Architecture, hospitality, film, music, movement, wardrobe, floral design, and live performance will not exist as separate event components. Together, they create the story guests enter.

The Scorpio Ball is an invitation-only theatrical dinner and private release of Raised by Fire.

The evening combines live performance, cinematic storytelling, dinner, music, and a closing phoenix sequence created expressly for the release.

It is not being conceived as a traditional book party or birthday celebration. It is the first fully realized embodiment of the world surrounding Raised by Fire—a story of survival, reclamation, authorship, and return.

THE Estimated Commitment

Advance preparation
One virtual creative briefing, accompanied by music, movement references, and a filmed choreography outline.

In-person rehearsal

  • Staircase and entrance blocking
  • Approximately one minute of basic waltz choreography
  • Partner positioning, musical cues, and timing
  • One controlled dip and final twirl
  • Camera marks and final positioning
  • Complete runs of the closing sequence

Staged filming
Approximately forty-five to sixty minutes, scheduled during the rehearsal day or separately before the event.

Event day
A brief spacing and cue review, followed by attendance through completion of the final performance sequence.

There will be no first-time choreography rehearsal on the day of the event.

WHY Jason

The final sequence requires a man who can enter a highly charged image without taking possession of it.

His presence must feel cinematic without becoming theatrical, masculine without becoming dominant, and emotionally present without moving the center of the story away from the woman standing inside it.

Jason brings the particular combination of elegance, warmth, restraint, and screen presence the final frame requires.

His presence would make the image larger without changing whose story it is.
