This November, an intimate gathering of invited guests will enter The Plaza for an evening of story, music, movement, beauty, and transformation.
The Scorpio Ball is not a traditional book launch.
It is not a corporate event.
It is not a fundraising gala.
It is the private release celebration for Raised by Fire—a memoir, a body of work, and the culmination of a life that refused to remain inside the story it inherited.
The evening will also mark Laura Doughty’s sixtieth year and the completion of her eighth marathon, bringing her lifetime charitable fundraising through running to more than $100,000. Five days earlier, she will have completed her third TCS New York City Marathon through the five boroughs of New York.
These milestones are not being placed beside one another for convenience.
They belong to the same story.
A story of endurance.
A story of reclamation.
A story of returning to the place where the next chapter begins.

Architecture, hospitality, film, music, movement, wardrobe, floral design, and live performance will not exist as separate event components. Together, they create the story guests enter.

This will not be presented as a fundraising appeal.
Guests will not be ambushed with an ask.
It will be a protected moment within Laura’s birthday speech—a glimpse of the house being built beyond the book, beyond the Ball, and beyond one woman’s story.
A discreet installation outside the ballroom may introduce invited guests to The House We Are Building, offering those who feel genuinely aligned an opportunity to learn more after the celebration.

Laura Doughty is an author, entrepreneur, producer, brand builder, marathoner, and the founder of Raised by Fire.
Her career has crossed luxury real estate, business development, publishing, podcasting, live experiences, and the creation of original platforms designed around story, transformation, and cultural legacy.
