The city hums below, but in here, it's still. My red dress, inspired by my Spanish dancer doll my parents got me when I was four, hangs in the doorway like a declaration. The silk shimmers in the soft light, catching the crystals that seem to pulse with their own heartbeat. Daisy is curled up next to me, sleeping, her soft snore a reminder that joy followed me all the way here.
